IRMAK
is a writer and artist from Turkiye.
She explores the effects of language on our memory, perception, meaning, and consciousness. In her work, she has always aimed to mirror back to the individual their own feeling by using literature and art as a tool.
Until 2025, Irmak conducted her work using traditional tools and art-based approaches. As of 2026, she has switched to using digital tools and aim to expand her work by using testable data, and incorporating artificial intelligence language models.
She also continues her research on this subject in fields outside of art and literature.

TEMPORARY POEMS
In 2026, Irmak decided to shift her work from traditional to digital tools. This interactive system, which she calls Temporary Poems, involves creating instant poems by randomly selecting five words from a pool of 300 words using hand gestures, with the other hand selecting the words to form sentences. Using Vibe coding, Irmak aims, as in all her work, for individuals to create their own poems by selectively choosing from the words presented to them. Instead of being passive consumers, she aims for individuals to create their own poems by incorporating their perception, choices, and current mood. The reason it's called Temporary Poems is because each poem changes according to the words on the screen, and also according to each individual's choices, reflecting their feelings at that moment, just like their moods. Feelings pass, but experiences remain in memory.

BATEU

In 2025, Irmak exhibited her third series, Bateu. Choosing the word Bateu, a metaphorical expression in Portuguese for a moment of awareness or a "click" moment, as the title of her series, Irmak placed a single sentence on each canvas instead of an image, aiming to guide the viewer from collective memory to their own memory. In the design of the canvases, she reverse-engineered the design of information cards used in museums for artworks. Thus, instead of providing the viewer with a visual, she suggested that they create the visual themselves, using their own memories, experiences, feelings, and reflections. She aimed to mirror those qualia moments that everyone experiences collectively but are experienced individually. She designed the exhibition so that each artwork was followed by a poem. These poem excerpts, numbered from 1 to 9, ended with the sentence "Welcome to your own meaning," aiming to guide the viewer in reaching their own understanding. She presented this series, titled “Bateu” as her second solo exhibition at the Ottoman Shipyard District Governorship Art Gallery in Milta Bodrum Marina, Turkey in 2025.

UNSPOKEN
In 2024, Irmak continued to use ideograms from Silent Poetry as symbolic reminders, incorporating them into her second series, "Unspoken," but this time offering subtle clues to the viewer. In these works, designed against a natural, cave-like background, and featuring phrases like “Is a feeling doesn’t count, if left unspoken”, her aim was for the viewer to return to their own feelings, memories, and echoes, mirroring their own meaning. The reason the series is called "Unspoken" is precisely this: to open a door to looking behind what is unsaid, to remembering tatic knowledge. She presented this series, titled “Unspoken” as her first solo exhibition at the Karabatak Gallery, Anthaven Bodrum, Turkiye in 2024.

SILENT POETRY
In 2022, Irmak decided to delve into the starting point of communication: silence and symbolism, beginning with the question: How can I use symbols as a means of communication, just as they were before written communication? Thus, she first viewed words as letters to extract meaning, then separated them into dots and lines to remove the sounds they represented. From these remaining meaningless dots and lines, she created ideograms representing symbolic poems, which she called "Silent Poetry”. Her aim was not to give the viewer meaning, but to enable them to find their own meaning within the visual they were drawn into. She presented this series, titled "Where Words End" as her first group exhibition at the Cacao Festival in Savra Bodrum, Turkiye in 2023.
